Traveling home from the Mammoth Blues and Brews, Brian and I had hunger pains in Bridgeport, CA. This small town is the County seat for a 20 by 100 mile strip of a County that is mostly mountains. When looking at the choices for food, everyone gets 4+ stars. So, the Sportsmen’s Inn Restaurant looked eclectic enough to be entertaining.
We parked at the edge of town and walked the 200 feet to the middle of town (yeah, it’s that small). We entered through a heavy glass door and picked a booth near the window. The prior people had just left, and the waitress showed up promptly to clean the table, deliver some water, and hand us menus. The burgers were the predominate item on the Lunch section. There were breakfast and dinner pages too.
I ordered the Philly Burger, which is described as a Philly steak burger. The picture tells a thousand words about sautéd bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and the fresh pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce buried under the Monterrey Jack. The patty hiding under this goodness is a 6 to 8 ounce beast with good seasoning and cooked to the medium end of medium-rare. My first bite had me singing praise of this wonderful meal.
