80 was a good year. It started with a huge shindig in Yuba City. There was a trip to Gabe’s house. Then, we had summer campout in the RV with not unlimited water (yes, there is a story). Two more plane rides rounded out the fall with another trip to Seattle and Thanksgiving at Elaine’s.
Winter set in, and snow stopped everything. Walking with chains on shoes was fun for mom. But, she still took Mary out 2 or 3 times every day. We look forward to some warmer weather in Death Valley over the next ten days.
But, tonight, the night of mom’s 81st birthday, we went searching for a martini and dinner in Hawthorn, Nevada. Yup, Hawthorn. We landed at a bar that served a wicked drink, and a pretty darn good pizza. Of course, the basic clientele was 20-something, and the music was loud and rappish. We endured, and had a good night.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM.
