Morning Walks are My Quiet Time

Spring brings warmer mornings with little ice on the road. The sun rises just before my coffee starts to brew. And, I like to get a walk down to the road with the dogs to get everyone started.

On March 27th, I passed a milestone. I’ve lost 100# from my highest weight. It’s been a 2 year journey. People ask, “what did you do?” I say, it’s hard to wrap it all in a simple comment. I’ve changed my diet with a huge reduction in carbs. I’ve found ways to stay more active, including walking down that hill. Mom moved in, and I am cooking for both of us.

In 2016, I started with a new doctor. She helped me update medications from what the prior 10 years had built with the old doc. For my 50th birthday, we had a heart to heart on what needed to change. So, I started doing all of those things I just mentioned.

By November 2019, I had been on a plateau at 70 pounds down for nearly 6 months. I felt great. We had cut back some of my medicines. And, I could walk to the mailbox and back without stopping. Big Success. But, I wanted to keep losing. But how.

Fasting. When you are ready to know more, this book pushed me over the edge. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0795BLS8D The first few weeks were difficult, but now, it’s a piece of cake. I do 21-hour fasts 5 days a week, and I’ve done a few 36-hour fasts following cheat-weekends. I’m looking forward to a longer fast before my Annual Physical.

Happy dogs are well exercised dogs. And, it’s not so bad for me too.
The sunshine cast a wonderful glow on the house this morning.
