Thanksgiving 2020 wasn’t going to happen. California was on lockdown. Flights were restricted. And, fear of contagion abounded. So, mom and I did not make the annual pilgrimage to Elaine’s home for Thanksgiving.
Instead, we rebooked out tickets for March 2021. We figured we would celebrate mom’s birthday with her sister in Orange County. The weather would be a nice change from Idaho’s typically snowy and cold March.
On March 4th, we loaded up the Mary-dog and headed for the airport. A fun trip ahead was in store as Delta had alter flight plans a few times. We learned we would be in SLC for nearly 3 hours. So, away we go.
It is a quick flight from Boise to Salt Lake City. We land at one end of the A terminal and have to walk to the furthest point of the B terminal for our next flight. This gave us the option to stop at the doggie potty, yippy skippy.
After walking the pup, we stopped for lunch. The Wasatch Brewery in the B terminal has the best airport food I have ever enjoyed. Even Mary got into the food.
We made it to Elaine’s and began the resting and relaxing. On March 6th, we had a small gathering for mom’s celebration. Jessica gave mom some fabulous house socks. Mom tested them as a sweat band.
On Sunday, we started by wearing the socks on the feet, and sipping coffee by the fire. A quick trip to the market led to the creation of an amazing soup. All of the work required a nap.
In a few days, we will adventure back through the airports to return to the icy driveway of home. I hope you enjoyed our birthday weekend.
Happy Birthday Dianne!! What an adventure! You are braver than I am for sure.
