2022 was a year of …
Wedding planning. We started by finalizing the photographer and caterer. During the year we sent rounds of invitations and reminders. Constantly trying to get updated addresses (you’d think some of our family members are in witness protection or something) seemed the hardest activity. All of the planning paid off. 🙂
Hectic work life. Christian had a full summer of changes and upgrades at work, and thus so many tasks at home were not completed. If you are interested in helping in 2023, there will be plenty to do. The deck still needs to be rebuilt / stained / stabilized. The back patio needs to be leveled and a new retaining wall set up. The house wants a new coat of paint, too!
Departing friends. Jane and Curtis moved to Arizona over the summer. They wanted less snow, and they did it. The got flash floods in exchange, but I think they are happier. Their storm and sunset photos are amazing. I miss seeing them around. Maybe, 2023 will see a road trip.
Parties. We hosted a Spring, get out of the house, party and our annual Oktoberfest. The Spring party is becoming the bigger event. Lots of good food and friendly games for all. Look for the Spring Thaw Party invitations coming soon; mark your calendar for June 10, 2023.
A Wedding! Check out the photos at http://www.wedding.dahlstroms.us. These are the professional photos. They are just starting to be loaded. Check back soon for the main events.
Snow. December has started with a bang. We’ve got about 2 feet already, and there is more to come. However, if last year’s model repeats, we will have a dry January. It’s bitterly cold right now, so no chance of anything melting. Thank goodness.
Promotion. Christian applied for a few promotions over the year. He learned from each round of interviews, and hit the jackpot in December. His new role is exactly what he wanted, and he’ll start the year off with a team of amazing people.
2023 will be a year to …
Build a new gazebo. The back patio will get scrapped and leveled. A new floor will go down, and on top of it will be a new 10 x 20 metal roofed gazebo. Along side it will be a 24 foot bar! Are you ready for some summer parties? We are.
Beef up the deck. The deck surfaces are going to be replaced and the railing upgraded. No more tripping on that board that sticks up or stepping in one of the dozen holes. Also, the covered area new the door will get extended for additional wet weather access to outside seating.
Take down the Christmas Tree. I’ll just leave this comment here until it is actually taken down.
